FAQs

How much does Counseling cost?

I charge $200 per 50 minute session. As a registered psychologist in Alberta, my services may be covered in whole or in part by your extended health policy or employee assistance program. Please check the details of your policy for more information. At the end of each session clients are issued a receipt which they may submit for reimbursement by their employee benefits or insurance company. I am able to direct bill through Alberta Blue Cross/ASEBP.

If you have been financially affected by the continuing COVID-19 pandemic and are in need of psychological services, please call or email to discuss sliding scale fees and teletherapy options.

How long can I expect to be in therapy?

Often, you will experience some benefits within a couple sessions. Many people experience significant growth and relief from emotionally painful symptoms in six or so sessions together. More complex issues may require extended treatment.

How long are sessions?

Sessions are typically 50 minutes.

How often would I have sessions?

Typically, clients attend therapy every week or second week at first with frequency decreasing over time.

How do I know if you are a good fit?

This is an important question. I will often have an initial phone consultation to ensure I can serve you well in your counseling journey.

Do I have to attend sessions in person?

When meeting face to face is not possible, I do offer therapy by telephone or video conferencing to Clients within Alberta.

What if my partner won’t come?

I work with individuals and partners in all types of relationships. An individual session can be quite helpful to explore your own ideas and feelings. This can move the process along as one partner tries out new behaviours and gets fresh ideas on how to handle difficult situations. Sometimes a partner will want to join in counselling. Even if your partner won’t attend therapy it can still be a useful experience to have individual counselling for relationship challenges.
